Summary0001524: Download Ringtones For Your iPhone Or Other Popular Mobile Phones
DescriptionRingtones are increasingly being used to jazz up mobiles, and more so since the launch of the new iPhone 4. However, if you do not know how to download ringtones, the process can be a bit tricky. Note: Android phones also identify ringtones as individual sound files when they come in the MP3 format, while iPhones require the file to have the proper M4R file format. If the ringtone that you download from one of the sites is not in the right format for your phone, use a data conversion utility like FileZigZag to make the right file for your phone.

Ringtones for the iPhone and Android phones are almost exactly the same, except that some carriers (such as AT&T) offer different text message and cell phone options, and some carriers (T-Mobile among them) allow you to download ringtones directly to your phone. Ringtones for the rooted Android devices may vary as much as the ringtones themselves. The same is true for all the music players that can be used to listen to ringtones on your phone.

Ringtones for the iPhone and Android devices differ greatly in their file formats as well as the choices for themes and graphics. Apple's version has a lot more pre-installed ringtones than the Android versions, and these are exclusive to the brand. These are mostly ringtones of popular artists and songs, but some are useful gadgets like wallpapers for your lock screen. The choice of ringtones for Android devices is also much fewer.

Ringtones for the iPhone and Android phones can be downloaded in one of two ways. You can either pay by the download or subscribe to an online service that gives you access to a huge database of downloadable ringtones, or you can create your own ringtones using GarageBand, which is an application for the iPhone and iPod Touch. To do this, first you need to turn off the cell phone, then download the tone maker software from the Google Play app, and select "create new ringtone." The tone maker software will let you choose a style (Ringtones are usually stored in "stocks"), and then select a sound from a catalog that it finds in its directory. You can then pick which song you want to use as the ringtone, and after that, press "Save" to store the ringtone in your phone's memory.

The best ringtones for the iPhone and Android are called "jacks," since they are designed to work with a feature known as the "jacks" code. The "jacks" code allows you to unlock your phone so that it will let you take pictures with any camera that has an infrared receiver, such as the iPhone's, or with a Firewire camera if you have one, and with any Bluetooth device that uses the Camera Connection Kit (used to connect your camera to your mobile phone) to transfer the data. However, there are some restrictions with these jacks, namely that you cannot transfer the data if the battery is dead, and you cannot remove the battery until after 10 minutes. That's why it's a good idea to store your favorite ringtones in your phone's memory, in separate files, so that you don't have to worry about resetting the phone after every use. Luckily, you can use an online service to download as many ringtones as you want, as long as you have a computer that's connected to the internet, and you're ready to start uploading the files to your phone.

The Zedge Music Store lets you download ringtones for your iPhone, iPod Touch, Blackberry, HTC, and other popular mobile devices, and even provides free ringtones on some sites. Their iPhone downloading ringtones are categorized according to popular ringtones, latest songs, and music. On their site, you can also find a list of popular ringtones for different styles, themes, and genres. The categories include rock, hip hop, metal, alternative, and pop, as well as a "Ringtones For Professionals" section where professionals can find ringtones that are not appropriate for their profession
